West Ham United chairman David Gold has insisted that the club's performance against Aston Villa fell well below the required standard.
Sam Allardyce's side continued their poor recent away form with a 2-1 defeat at Villa Park to stay 11th in the Premier League table.
Gold was at Villa Park and took to Twitter to share his disappointment, claiming that the travelling Hammers fans deserved more from their team.
He tweeted: "Disappointed for the fans who traveled hundreds of miles on a miserable day to lose to a team in the bottom three. We should do better."
The Hammers have now lost five consecutive league games on the road and sit seven points above the relegation zone.
