David Moyes: 'My focus is on the future'

West Ham United manager David Moyes insists that he is only focused on "the future" as he prepares to take charge of his new side for the first time.

New West Ham United manager David Moyes has insisted that he is only focused on "the future" as he looks to steer the club away from relegation danger.

The Scot took over at the London Stadium earlier this month after Slaven Bilic was dismissed following a run that had seen the Hammers collect just two wins from their first 11 games of the season.

Moyes will take charge of his new side for the first time on Sunday at Watford in what will represent the 500th top-flight game of his managerial career, following on from his 11-year spell at Everton and ill-fated stints at Manchester United and Sunderland.

"I could talk about the old days or I could talk about the future," he told reporters today.

"I could talk about winning manager of the year three times [at Everton] or I could talk about getting the biggest job in the world [at United].

"But I think now it's time to talk about what's coming next. And what's coming next? I've got Watford. And I've got to try and get a team ready and prepared, who can put on a show and get us a result."

West Ham head into the weekend's fixtures 18th in the table and one point from safety.
