West Ham United youngster Reece Burke relieved by Premier League debut

West Ham youngster Reece Burke admits that he is "glad" to have come through his Premier League debut unscathed after helping the Hammers to a 0-0 draw with QPR.

West Ham United youngster Reece Burke has claimed that he is 'relieved' to have made his Premier League debut during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Queens Park Rangers.

The 18-year-old academy product played the full 90 minutes for the Hammers on the weekend as they left Loftus Road with a share of the spoils.

Burke had previously featured in the FA Cup and League Cup for Sam Allardyce's side, but he admits that it was far tougher going the distance in a top-flight fixture.

"I've played a few games for the first team before, but Saturday was at a different level in the Premier League," he told the club's official website. "I'm glad I've made my Premier League debut - I thought I did alright and hopefully there's many more games to come.

"I'm just really happy we kept a clean sheet. There's always room for improvement and that's for me to go away, watch the game back and work on what I need to work on.

"It was a case of keeping it simple and not over-complicating things. That's what the lads were telling me, make sure my first pass and first header were good and go from there. That's the way it went so I'm pleased."

West Ham continue their league campaign on May 2 when they welcome struggling Burnley to Upton Park.
