West Bromwich Albion win mistaken identity claim

West Brom succeed in their mistaken identity claim against Gareth McAuley.

West Bromwich Albion have succeeded in their mistaken identity claim involving Gareth McAuley and Craig Dawson.

McAuley was sent off by referee Neil Swarbrick against Manchester City on Saturday, though it was Dawson who should have been dismissed for a foul on Wilfried Bony.

The Football Association has now confirmed that McAuley's one-match ban will be transferred to his teammate following an independent regulatory commission hearing.

West Brom went on to lose the game 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

The Baggies return to action on April 4 when they host Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League.
