Report: The FA will rescind Gareth McAuley's red card against Manchester City

West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley will not serve a one-match ban for his red card against Manchester City, according to reports.

West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley will reportedly not face a ban, as the FA prepare to rescind the red card he received against Manchester City at the weekend.

The centre-back was sent off in the second minute for fouling Wilfried Bony, but replays clearly show that Craig Dawson was the real offender.

Referee Neil Swarbrick later admitted that he sent the wrong player off, and The Express reports that McAuley's one-match ban will be lifted and given to Dawson instead.

The Baggies went on to lose the game 3-0.
