Rickie Lambert disappointed with first season at West Bromwich Albion

Striker Rickie Lambert admits that his first season at West Bromwich Albion was "frustrating" as he struggled for playing time at The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion striker Rickie Lambert has acknowledged that he struggled during his first season at The Hawthorns.

After just one season at Liverpool, Lambert made the switch to the Baggies but the England international remained on the bench for much of the campaign as the club finished in 14th position in the standings.

All but five of his 19 appearances in the league came as a substitute, and Lambert has admitted that he has endured a frustrating time in the West Midlands.

The 34-year-old told the Express & Star: "It's not been a good season for me personally. I've found it hard to get a run and when I have I've found it hard to score goals. It's been frustrating for me.

"Any time in the past it's not mattered what my form was because my confidence was there but because I've not hit the ground running and not scored the goals I've found it hard to get up to pace. It's been a frustrating season, so we will see what happens in the summer."

Lambert has 12 months left on his contract at West Brom.
