Reports in Italy suggest that Markus Rosenberg has decided to join West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer.

West Brom are close to signing Sweden international Markus Rosenberg on a free transfer, according to reports in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Baggies have beaten sides such as Liverpool, Swansea and Pescara to the 29-year-old's signature.

Rosenberg is currently without a club after leaving German side Werder Bremen, following the expiry of his contract at the start of July.

The forward started his career in his home country with Malmo FF, before earning a move to Ajax, where he spent two years before joining Werder Bremen.

However, his five-year period at the club has now come to an end, and it seems that the Hawthorns is his next destination.

Rosenberg scored 10 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season.
