Wales boss Chris Coleman: 'We weren't at our best against Austria'

Wales manager Chris Coleman admits that his side were fortunate to come away with a point from their World Cup qualifier against Austria in Vienna.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has admitted that his side were not at their best during their World Cup qualifier with Austria this evening.

Austria twice came from behind in Vienna to earn a 2-2 draw against the Euro 2016 semi-finalists, who failed to build on leads given to them by Joe Allen and a Kevin Wimmer own goal.

However, despite not trailing at any point of the game, Coleman admitted that they were lucky to come away with a point.

"We have to be honest and say we'll take that point tonight. It wasn't our best performance, we know that but Austria are a very good team at home," he told reporters.

"To take three points we needed to be at our very best in every department but we weren't. We found a way though, by hook or by crook, and we rode our luck at times.

"If you can get something when you are not at your best it is a good sign. We made trouble for ourselves, that's not like us. We can play a lot better but we can't fight any harder than that. They never shied away from a challenge."

The draw leaves Wales as one of four teams with four points from their opening two Group D games.
