Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of Great Britain vs. New Zealand in the women's Olympic football opener.
Hope Powell leads the home nation in what is the first sporting Olympic action of the summer.
Scottish pair Kim Little and Ifeoma Dieke join nine of Powell's England regulars in the starting lineup in the first ever competitive match played by a female Team GB.
Star-name Kelly Smith also starts in attack and will be partnered by Eniola Aluko in this afternoon's Group E curtain-raiser.

22.36GOAL! Colombia 0-2 North Korea Game over! Awful goalkeeping mistake from Sepulveda who drops a simple cross, and Kim is on hand to score her second, which was adjudged to have crossed the line despite the best efforts of a Colombian defender in the goalmouth.
22.35Just five minutes left now at Hampden Park, and Colombia are still not threatening an equaliser.
22.32We have the first yellow card of the match- shown to Yong of North Korea. One caution and a total of five shots on target, all from Korea- not exactly carnival football is it!?

22.27Good defending from Korea. Rodallega attempts to cut in and get a shot away from the left but she is immediately surrounded by Korean defenders.
22.23Chance wasted on the counter for Colombia. Vidal picks the ball up in a two-on-two position after Korea give the ball away. However, once she passes the ball on to Salazar, the attack loses momentum and Korea get players back in time to thwart the danger.
22.19The set-piece comes to nothing, and already Korea are running down the clock at every opportunity. There's still 20 minutes left!
22.17A brilliant individual run from Dominguez, which sees her take on three or four Korean players, eventually results in her being fouled and earning Colombia a free kick in a promising position. Good footwork from the midfielder.
22.12Great chance for Korea! Jon squeezes a pass through the Colombian defence and Kim is in at the back post, but under pressure from the opposition goalkeeper, she can only screw her left-footed effort wide of the target.

21.38The referee calls an end to proceedings at the Coventry City Stadium, where Sweden have run out 4-1 winners. Three goals in the opening 20 minutes effectively ended the match as a contest, but not as a spectacle as Portia Modise still had time to net a memorable 45-yard effort for the South Africans. Lotta Schelin added to her first-half effort with a 63rd-minute second, which restored Sweden's three-goal cushion. The European nation move top of Group F, ahead of Japan after the opening round of fixtures.

21.31GOAL! Colombia 0-1 North Korea We've seen some fantastic individual goals on the opening day of sporting action at the London Games- this is not one of them. A goalmouth scramble that hits heads, shoulders, knees and toes, and tickles the funny bones, eventually ends in the ball being bundled home by an ecstatic North Korean attacker. I'm not convinced of their identity, so I won't name them in case of further protests, but that is a brilliant goal for entirely the wrong reasons.
21.27A Colombia free kick dips and lands on the roof of the net at Hampden Park. That's the closest we've come to a goal in a match that's headlines will not strictly be football related.
21.24There is no guarantee that will be the case though. South Africa, although seemingly out of the game, are fired up and looking to create another Olympic moment such as their teammate Modise did earlier. What a goal that was.
21.21Twelve minutes left at the Coventry City Stadium. Sweden will top Group F on goal difference should the scores remain the same.
21.17No more delays at Hampden Park, but we are still goalless between Columbia and NORTH Korea.
21.15Another second-half change for the Swedes as Kosovare Asllani takes the place of two-goal striker Lotta Schelin.
21.13Nilsson, who was involved in that move, is a second-half substitute for Sweden. She replaced Nilla Fischer, who limped off as a precaution after picking up a knock early in the second half.
21.11Excellent save from Roxanne Barker as she denies Sweden a fifth through Jakobsson. Seger picks up the rebound and stands up a cross, which eventually falls to substitute Nilsson, whose effort is deflected wide.
21.07GOAL! Sweden 4-1 South Africa Unfortunately for South Africa, it is the quantity and not quality of goals that count in football. Sweden certainly lead in that case. Lotta Schelin has found the net for a second time with a delicate near-post flick from Thunebro's cross.
21.03GOAL! Sweden 3-1 South Africa Portia Modise, take a bow. This is a fantastic goal, and while South Africa may still be two goals down, their fans will leave happy having seen this. The experience Modise picks up the ball in her own half, runs with it and sees Sweden keeper Lindahl off her line. From all of 45 yards out, Modise lets fly and the ball floats over Lindahl and into the net. Outstanding. What a moment.
20.58We are finally underway at Hampden Park, where all flag-related controversies have been forgotten, temporarily at least. Columbia and North Korea are 0-0 having played 10 minutes.
20.54Another corner for the Swedes, who are beginning to gain control of the ball again.
20.51Sweden have the first chance of the half despite their fairly sloppy start to the second period. Schein, a goalscorer in the first half, sees her header saved by Barker.
20.45Sweden and South Africa have resumed their Group F contest at the Coventry City Stadium. Remember, the Swedes lead 3-0 in that one...
20.42But back to events that ARE happening on the pitch, or HAVE happened I should say. Brazil were very impressive, and despite the low standard of opposition, the result will have sent out a message to the United States, Japan and Team GB that they are real contenders for this competition. Cristiane and Marta could be the difference...

20.30There's a reason that the Colombia vs. North Korea match is still goalless, and that's because they aren't playing. I've just been told by my colleague that North Korea have delayed the kick off in protest of the South Korean flag being mistakenly shown on the Hampden Park screen prior to the start of the match.
20.27GOAL! Brazil 5-0 Cameroon Brazil's star-studded strike combination combine as Cristiane once again rounds the goalkeeper, but this time, in a wider position, squares the ball for Marta to convert from six yards.
20.24Meanwhile in the other two games, South Africa have managed to temporarily plug their leaky defence to restrict Sweden to a three-goal lead. Columbia vs. Korea is still stalemate.
20.22Formiga immediately pulls up with what looks like a hamstring strain and is hauled off.
20.20GOAL! Brazil 4-0 Cameroon It proved to only be a temporary reprieve for Cameroon as Cristiane finds the net just minutes after being denied. The prolific striker makes a clever run across the back four and is played in beautifully by Formiga before rounding the keeper and slotting home. Lovely goal.
20.18Cristiane very nearly adds to her Olympic tally but is denied smartly by Ngo Ndom, who has resolute in this second half.
20.14GOAL! Brazil 3-0 Cameroon Marta steps up to convert convincingly into the bottom corner. Game over, if it wasn't already.
20.12PENALTY TO BRAZIL! Brazil are awarded a clear-cut penalty as Beyene drags down Marta six-yards out in the centre of the goal. Only a sympathetic referee has saved Beyene from a red card.
20.10Brazil are just coasting at the moment and nearly allow Cameroon a way back into the game, but Ajara Nchout's feeble left-footed shot trickles wide.
20.08GOAL! Sweden 3-0 South Africa Very smoothly indeed. Just a minute later they have moved three goals clear as Lotta Schelin has joined strike-partner Dahlkvist on the scoresheet.
20.06GOAL! Sweden 2-0 South Africa It is all going smoothly for Sweden at the Coventry City stadium. Striker Lisa Dahlkvist has doubled their advantage with just 20 minutes played.
20.05Sixteen-year-old Feudjio is replaced for Cameroon by her more experienced teammate Francine Zidiga.
20.03We are still goalless in the match at Hampden Park between Colombia and Korea. France and the United States shared six goals at Scotland's national stadium earlier today.
20.02Harsh yellow card for Cameroon's Yango, who seemed to get the better of a 50-50 with Ester. The referee thought she did that unfairly, but neither I nor Yango agree.
20.01Back at the Millennium Stadium, veteran midfielder Formiga has an effort from long-range but it is comfortably gathered by Ngo Ndom.
19.59GOAL! Sweden 1-0 South Africa Nilla Fischer has given Sweden a seventh-minute lead against relative minnows South Africa in Group F's second game of the evening.
19.57Looking at the replay there, the referee got that one spot-on. Marta had lost control of the ball by the time Ngo Ndom made contact with her. To be fair, there were no complaints from the Brazilian legend.
19.54Marta has the chance to add her illustrious name to the scoresheet, but is bundled down by goalkeeper Ngo Ndom, who came to meet her. The ball goes out of play for a goal kick and no penalty is given.
19.52Wasteful from Cameroon, who have the chance to put the ball into the box from a free kick, but experienced full-back Manie's cross goes straight out at the near post.
19.47A sight you don't want to see when you are 2-0 down is the introduction of the Olympics' leading ever goalscorer. Poor Camerooon. Cristiane, the Brazilian striker who holds that title and was top-scorer at both the 2008 and 2004 Games, was a half-time substitute.
19.44Much like earlier in the day, we will continue to focus our attention on Cardiff, but keep you updated with the other two Olympic fixtures - Sweden vs. South Africa and Columbia vs. Korea DPR - which are scheduled to get underway any minute...NOW!
19.42As expected Brazil cruised to a comfortable half-time lead over their less established opposition. Having said that, Cameroon came back into the contest in the final ten minutes of the first period, and an early goal in the second half may just set the cat among the Brazilian pigeons. How likely that is, I'm not so sure.
19.30HALF-TIME: Brazil 2-0 Cameroon
19.26A rare chance for Cameroon, but it came about through some very Brazilian build-up play. A superb through ball sends Onguene in on goal, but she shows some Samba magic with a cheeky turn to create space for a shot on her left foot. Unfortunately the finish wasn't very Brazilian, as it trickled harmlessly wide.
19.23Another ambitious effort, this time from Ester, is directed slightly better and forces Cameroon stopper Ngo Ndom to push the ball round the post.
19.20Bruno tries her luck from very, very long-range but only succeeds in sending her shot miles over the crossbar. If the word 'audacious' is ever appropriate, it is to describe that effort. Mind you, 'awful' would have been equally valid.
19.15Six-time women's World Player of the Year, Marta, has been the star however. The experienced playmaker has been pulling the Brazilian strings superbly from behind the strike pairing of Bruna and Costa.

19.10Sorry for that brief radio silence- we've had some technical problems, but are on track now, as are Brazil, who are cruising against Cameroon.
18.58There is no rest-bite for me as the football comes thick and fast on the opening day of London 2012 action. Brazil's women currently lead Cameroon 2-0 after just 12 minutes - we'll be bringing you live text coverage of that 18.45 kick off shortly.
18.54Fellow tournament heavyweights America and Japan join Team GB in recording a victory in their opening Olympic fixture. The US were forced to come from two-goals down to beat the French, who showed themselves as a forced to be reckoned with. Japan were less dramatic in winning 2-1, but were pushed all the way by Canada, who provided a stern second-half test for the World Cup winners. Japan and the US move top of Groups F and G respectively.

18.46Approaching the closing stages now, with just two minutes plus stoppage time left in both contests. Can Canada find an equalising goal against the Japanese?
18.44That could have been the last chance for France to get back into this match. The US commit plenty of bodies forward and Thomis is able to out-pace Rampone when the French break, but the striker overruns the ball and allows US stopper Solo to collect unharmed. Wasteful.
18.42Final change for the US as pacey attacker Sydney Leroux comes on in place of Rapinoe, who was excellent down the American right.
18.40Another fine ball from Le Sommer forces O'Hara to concede a corner under pressure from Thiney at the near post.
18.38Thomis, who had that penalty shout earlier, is left frustrated again as she just can't reach Eugenie Le Sommer's low cross.

18.36Japan still lead Canada 2-1 at the Coventry City Stadium, but the World Cup champions will be anxious that they haven't been able to shrug off their North American opponents just yet.
18.33France seem to have been flattened by that fourth US goal. Having been 2-0 ahead, they will be incredibly frustrated to be in this position as we enter the final fifteen minutes.
18.31Morgan is denied her hat-trick by her manager as she is pulled off in place of Amy Rodriguez.
18.26GOAL! France 2-4 USA Alex Morgan puts the US two goals in-front with the simplest of tap ins at the back post. Rapinoe sends a through ball across the field to a sprinting Tobin Heath, who dribbles on goal and then sends the cross back to Morgan, who has the easiest conversion. That could be all she wrote in this match, and it is rough justice on France, who were still frustrated by the lack of spot kick awarded at the other end.
18.23Penalty shout for the French as Thomis feels she is pulled down by O'Hara, but nothing is given.
18.22Renard is back on the pitch, seemingly unscathed.
18.20Slight delay in play at Hampden Park as Renard receives treatment for a facial injury caused by a stray Abi Wambach boot. Not intentional, but that must have hurt.
18.18Immediately after they conceded, Japan have a great opportunity to restore their two-goal cushion, but Ogimi sends a header over the bar from ten yards.
18.15GOAL! Japan 2-1 Canada We also have a goal in Coventry as Melissa Tancredi reduces the deficit with a 56th-minute strike for Canada.
18.14GOAL! France 2-3 USA That's why Carli Lloyd is one of the biggest names in American soccer. She's put the US ahead with an excellent individual effort, creating some space for herself 25 yards out before sending a dipping shot across Bouhaddi and into the France net. Brilliant hit.
18.11Excellent play by Megan Rapinoe down the US right, but her low ball in is cleared by France full-back Renard.
18.08The US are pressing and have an effort cleared off the line. With the French keeper beaten, Abi Wambach's strike is booted clear by stand-in captain Meilleroux to keep France on level terms.
18.06A surprise omission from the starting lineup, Carli Lloyd is now on the field for the US. She is one of American soccer's biggest names.
18.04The other two matches currently in play have resumed for the second periods, with France level at 2-2 against the USA and Japan leading Canada 2-0. We'll be keeping you up to date with the latter match at Coventry, but have a main focus on the progress of tournament favourites America, as they look to complete a fine comeback.
17.56An historic first victory for Great Britain's women's team in their first ever competitive match, and well-deserved too. Apart from two 15 minute spells at either end of the match, Team GB were dominant in terms of both possession and chances created. They could have been ahead several times before Steph Houghton opened the scoring with a fine free kick. Goalkeeper Karen Bardsley then twice kept them in-front with a pair of fine saves. A winning start to the Olympic summer for Team GB!

17.47GOAL! Japan 2-0 Canada Japan seem to be having a comfortable time of it against Canada as they double their advantage courtesy of a Aya Miyama strike on the stroke of the break.
17.45Just five minutes plus stoppage time for Team GB to hold on to this lead and an opening day victory at their home Games.
17.44Excellent save from Bardsley! For the second time in this half, the Team GB stopper is called upon to maintain her side's lead. Hearn picks up the ball 25 yards out and tries a dipping effort, which looks to be sneaking underneath the bar only for Bardsley to stretch and tip it over.
17.42And it does nearly lead to a second goal! The ball is initially cleared before being fizzed back into the box and diverted inches wide courtesy of a New Zealand head. Very close to being an own goal.
17.40GB have been under some notable pressure from New Zealand in the last five minutes, but they can relieve some of that with a second goal. Rachel Yankee is over a corner here...
17.36GOAL! Japan 1-0 Canada We now have a goal in every game as Japan have taken the lead against Canada at the Coventry City Stadium. Nahomi Kawasumi the scorer for the World Cup holders.
17.35GOAL! France 2-2 USA France's advantage did not last long as America pull level courtesy of a goal from Seattle Sounders forward Alex Morgan.
17.34A change for New Zealand as veteran midfielder Kirsty Yallop is replaced by Annalie Longo.
17.31Great chance for New Zealand! A terrible mix-up between Alex Scott and Ifeoma Dieke on the edge of the GB area presents Sarah Gregorius with a wonderful opportunity for an equaliser. She's one-on-one, eight yards out and tries to slip it under Bardsley, but the England stopper stays tall and keeps her side in-front. Excellent from Bardsley.
17.29Substitution for Team GB as the experienced Rachel Yankee replaces her Arsenal teammate Kelly Smith. A good shift put in by Hope Powell's biggest name, but it is Houghton, a full-back, who is the unlikely hero thus far.
17.26GOAL! Team GB 1-0 New Zealand Goals must be infectious, as we now have one at the Millennium Stadium to add to our three at Hampden Park. It's a free-kick from Steph Houghton which bends into the bottom corner past Bindon to give GB the lead. Dare I say Beckham-esque? That's the first ever goal scored by a women's GB soccer team and things are looking good for the host nation.
17.23Meanwhile back in Cardiff, Ellen White has a golden chance for Team GB as she is played clear, but a brilliant tackle from Riley prevents Powell's side taking the lead.
17.23Just confirming the goalscorers with you now- Marie Laure Delie netted France's second, before Wambach headed in Rapinoe's corner for the Americans.
17.21GOAL! France 2-1 USA We may be goalless in Cardiff, and in Coventry, but it is a goal fest at Hampden Park as the US have now pulled one back.
17.19GOAL! France 2-0 USA France did not take long to double their advantage. They now lead the US by two goals inside 20 minutes and there is a real shock on the cards in Scotland!
17.16While France were taking the lead against USA, Kelly Smith had a chance to put Team GB ahead but her header was palmed away by Bindon.
17.14It's a cracking goal too, as Gaetane Thiney bends a ball into the top corner from 25 yards. That's some way to open the tournament's goalscoring account!
17.12GOAL! France 1-0 USA We have the first goal of London 2012, and it is somewhat of a surprise as tournament favoiurites USA go behind to France after 12 minutes at Hampden Park.
17.07Amber Hearn, who proved to be New Zealand's main goalscoring threat in the first-half, has an effort from a 30-yard free kick, but it goes comfortably wide of Bardsley's net.
17.05And we are back underway in Cardiff...
17.03As Powell suggested, there is a change at half-time as Ellen White comes on in place of Arsenal teammate Kim Little.
16.59So, the players are taking a well-deserved break from the hot conditions. They'll resume in around five minutes time, while the matches between Japan and Canada and France and USA will commence at 5.00pm. Our main focus will stay with Team GB, but I'll also be bringing you updates from those two fixtures...
16.55HALF-TIME:That was pretty much the last action of the first half, a period which has largely been dominated by the home nation. New Zealand began brightly, but after a slow first quarter-of-an-hour, GB enjoyed the majority of possession and almost the entirety of the chances. Asante twice sent great headed chances off-target after she had earlier struck the post with a similar effort. If those chances had fallen to Smith, who has played a supporting role so far, you feel that Hope Powell's side would be in-front at the break.
16.48HALF-TIME: Team GB 0-0 New Zealand
16.46Great chance for Team GB! An aimless punt aimed to wind down the clock somehow finds its way to Aluko on the left. She cuts inside, shrugging off the challenge of Percival, before sliding in Little with a delightful through ball. The Scot is one-on-one with Bindon but instead opts to cut it back to Carney, who is outnumbered and the ball is cleared. Little should have taken the shot on.
16.43The score may be goalless, but we stand at one apiece on the yellow card count as Hannah Wilkinson enters the referee's books for a needless tackle on Dieke.
16.40That's a hat-trick of headed chances for Asante. This one could be the hardest of the three but she is still unmarked as she sends a bullet header well off-target. Wasteful.
16.38More good play from Team GB, and another chance for Scott, who is operating almost as a wing-back. Instead of shooting on her left foot, Scott cuts back onto her stronger right but the angle means he shot was always likely to drift past the post.
16.36Another headed chance for Asante, this time from a corner but she's off balance and sends her effort over the crossbar.
16.33OFF THE POST! Closest we've come to an opener as Asante strikes the post with a header. Aluko finds herself in acres of space on the left, and rather than shoot, cuts inside and stands a cross up to the back post. Kelly Smith may have been the intended target, but when the ball evaded her, Asante's stooped header came back off the woodwork. Great chance.
16.28Scott, Carney and Smith are all involved down the right-hand side, which seems to be where Team GB are getting most of their joy. Clever feet from Carney, as she evades a couple of tackles before releasing Smith. The former Arsenal Ladies attacker pulls it back to Scott, who had bombed on from right-back, only for the defender to drag her shot wide.
16.25Team GB starting to have much the better of proceedings as we pass the midpoint of the first period.
16.23From the resulting corner, Bindon is called into action again. Her weak punch falls to Aluko, who strikes powerfully only to be denied by a sprawling Bindon, who recovers well from her earlier mistake.
16.22Steph Houghton's 30-yard free-kick is on target and forces NZ stopper Bindon into a smart save.
16.20Alex Scott makes her first impression from full-back as she collects a cut-back from Smith before beating two players and watching her cross deflect behind for a corner.
16.18Kim Little shows some frustration as a strong challenge on her goes without punishment. Some of her fiery Scottish temper evident there...
16.16Carney and Smith combine again. The former smashes a long ball over the back of the New Zealand defence and Smith gives chase. The NZ keeper beats her to it, but returns her clearance straight to Smith, who looks to cut inside and fire a shot into a vacant net, but Riley makes an excellent recovery tackle for the Southern Hemisphere side.
16.13Smith involved once more. That 'craft' that Powell spoke of is evident as Karen Carney shows some trickery down the right before standing up a cross to Smith at the near post. However, the England striker can only get a feint header on the ball and the danger passes again.
16.11First real sign of life from Team GB. Aluko shows some acceleration and some quick feet, as she skips away from two New Zealand challenges before finding Kelly Smith. The stadium stands in expectation, but New Zealand defend well and clear the danger.
16.09After that early booking, things have started to slow down. Expect a cautious pace in this first half just due to the sheer heat.
16.04First half chance of the game comes for New Zealand but Amber Hearn's header from Ali Riley's cross goes harmlessly wide.
16.02Less than three minutes in and Anita Asante has already been cautioned for a late challenge. Could be a long 87 minutes for the tough-tackling Team GB midfielder.
15.59But back to the Millennium Stadium, where Team GB have got the London 2012 Olympic Games underway...
15.58And to conclude the day's action, Sweden face South Africa and Columbia take on Korea DPR in 8.00pm kick offs.
15.56The other Group E match between Brazil and Cameroon is a 7.00pm kick off tonight, while before that Japan take on Canada and France face tournament favourites USA in the 5.00pm Group F and G openers.
15.54And now Team GB. Hopefully 'God save the Queen' will be a regular anthem as the Games unfold...
15.51The players are walking out in the blistering heat, and will stand and observe the national anthems. New Zealand first...
15.47Discussing the conditions, Powell admitted that the heat is likely to mean changes will be made at half-time. It will be tough for the players out their today- but at least it isn't raining eh!?
