Jose Canas moves to Espanyol after Swansea City cancel contract

Jose Canas joins Espanyol after his contract with Swansea City was cancelled by mutual consent.

Jose Canas has left Swansea City for La Liga side Espanyol after his contract at the Liberty Stadium was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old joined the Swans on a free transfer from Real Betis last summer, going on to start half of the Welsh club's games in the Premier League in 2013-14.

A message on Swansea's website read: "Everyone at Swansea City would like to thank Jose for his services to the club, and wish him well for the future."

Espanyol are currently 16th in La Liga with one point from their opening two games.
