Preview: Swansea City vs. Millwall - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Swansea City and Millwall, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Swansea City and Millwall square off in South Wales on Saturday afternoon with both clubs sitting in the mid-table positions in the Championship standings.

Although the teams are 14th and 13th place respectively, it is the visitors who head into this contest with more momentum.

While Swansea may only conceded seven times in 11 league games this season, their supporters will not be overly pleased with their progression under Luke Williams.

Just eight goals have been scored at the other end, restricting the Welsh outfit to just three wins and none of which have been posted in their last five games.

Four matches have passed by since Swansea troubled the scoresheet, failing to net against Sheffield United, Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.

A positive spin can perhaps be put on the recent goalless draw at the latter, yet Swansea have now dropped six points below the playoff places.

Williams will at least be content with their five-match undefeated streak at home, collecting nine points and shipping just the two goals.

As for Millwall, Neil Harris and his players deserve credit for turning around their slow start to the campaign.

On the back of losing their opening two fixtures, the Lions have since succumbed just twice in their most recent nine outings.

The 1-0 triumph over Plymouth Argyle in midweek extended their unbeaten run to three matches, draws with West Bromwich Albion and Derby County preceding that important success.

Millwall are still to win a single away league game this campaign, their last such victory ironically coming away at Swansea in May.

Team News

Ollie Cooper and Liam Cullen are both pushing for returns to the Swansea attack with Zan Vipotnik potentially dropping down to the substitutes' bench.

Joe Allen is an alternative in central midfield, but the backline will remain the same unless Joshua Key replaces Kyle Naughton.

Meanwhile, Harris may settle on making just the one change to his Millwall XI, recalling Macaulay Longstaff in the final third.

Youngster Mihailo Ivanovic had made his first Championship start of the campaign against Plymouth and will likely drop out of the side.

However, that is dependent on Romain Esse and Femi Azeez shaking off knocks, while Duncan Watmore should be back in contention after missing the game in midweek due to family reasons.

Swansea City possible starting lineup:
Vigouroux; Naughton, Cabango, Darling, Tymon; Fulton, Grimes; Ronald, Cooper, Abdulai; Cullen

Millwall possible starting lineup:
Jensen; Leonard, Tanganga, Cooper, Bryan; De Norre, Saville; Esse, Honeyman, Azeez; Longstaff

We say: Swansea City 1-1 Millwall

Everything points to this contest being a low-scoring affair, unless Swansea finally find their shooting boots. We feel obliged to back a share of the spoils, one that will not necessarily suit either side.
