Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that Marcus Rashford "has to change" if he is to represent the club again.

The England international has not been involved for the Red Devils since December 12, with the forward being overlooked due to poor performances in training and his general demeanour around Carrington.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding Rashford's future during the January transfer window, with a number of clubs being linked with a loan move for the 27-year-old.

However, the end of the winter market is now in sight, and there is not a clear exit route for the Red Devils academy product.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are no longer in the running, with Barcelona the favourites, but the Catalan outfit first need to make room in their squad, which is very complicated this close to the transfer deadline.

There is now believed to be a real chance that Rashford could stay at Man United past the transfer deadline, but Amorim has insisted that the attacker will continue to be overlooked unless there is a drastic change.

Amorim says Rashford "has to change" to win back Man United spot

"With our team and the profile of the players, imagine with a talent like Rashford, our team should be so much better," said Amorim ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with FCSB. "But he has to change.

"If he changes, we will use a talent like Rashford, but at this moment we have to set some standards. We are waiting for Marcus if he wants it really badly. It's not personal against Marcus - I have to make the same rules for everybody.

"It's the same for any player. Rashford is not selected, that is my choice. He's training, he's not good enough, that's what I tell you. We are a better team with Marcus, that is clear. He is a big talent, but until it is the right moment, I will not change my mind."

Rashford has not travelled to Romania for Man United's final match in the league phase of the Europa League despite training alongside his teammates at Carrington on Wednesday morning.

The forward has scored seven times and registered three assists in 24 appearances for Man United this season, while he has 138 goals and 63 assists in 426 outings for the Red Devils in total during his professional career.

Is there a way back for Rashford at Man United?

Amorim and Rashford are allegedly not currently on speaking terms, with the relationship between the two individuals believed to have completely broken down, so it is difficult to imagine a route back for the Englishman.

Much will depend on what happens over the next few days, as a loan move away from Man United is still possible, but if he does stay at Old Trafford, then the questions on Rashford will continue until there is some form of resolution.
