Tottenham Hotspur reportedly join three Premier League rivals in the race to sign Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign Bayern Munich for Mathys Tel.

Spurs have added just two players to their squad in the winter transfer window despite being hit with an injury crisis.

Yang Min-hyeok officially arrived from South Korean side Gangwon FC after his transfer was announced in the summer, but the youngster has now headed out on loan to Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

Tottenham's other addition was goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who arrived earlier this month from Czech outfit Slavia Prague.

Ange Postecoglou would appreciate more signings before Monday's deadline, with his side currently struggling in 15th place in the Premier League table.

Spurs enter Tel race

Spurs could also use greater depth in their squad to help cope with their lengthy injury list and busy schedule due to the fact that they are competing in four competitions.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are exploring a move to add Bayern's Tel to Postecoglou's attacking options before the transfer window shuts.

Spurs have become the latest club to enter the race for the Bayern forward, with the youngster already attracting interest from three other Premier League clubs.

Chelsea have been linked with a potential move for the Frenchman, while Man United are considering him as a potential option should Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho leave the club.

Tottenham's North London rivals Arsenal are also believed to be among Tel's admirers, meaning that Spurs will have their work cut out to win the race for the attacker's services.

Why is Tel heading towards Bayern exit?

Tel appears to be heading towards a winter departure after struggling for regular playing time under Vincent Kompany this season.

The France Under-21 international has had to settle for just three starts in 13 appearances in all competitions this season.

However, any move away from the Allianz Arena is likely to be a loan move rather than a permanent transfer.

Tel would offer his potential suitors a degree of versatility in the final third, having proven that he can play as a wide man or as a number nine.
