Francesco Guidolin wants to stay as head coach of Swansea City

Francesco Guidolin says that he wants to stay on as Swansea City head coach beyond his contract, which expires in the summer.

Francesco Guidolin has revealed that he wants to stay on as head coach of Swansea City.

The 60-year-old was appointed by the Welsh club in January following the departure of Garry Monk.

Guidolin was hired in order to help the Swans retain their Premier League status, and he has all but done so as they sit 15th in the standings on 40 points.

It is not yet clear whether Guidolin will stay beyond his contract, which expires in the summer, but the man himself has indicated that he is keen to do so.

"It's an honour being linked with Italy and I'm leaving all my options open, but I've not heard from anybody yet," Guidolin told Italy's Fox Sports.

"My contract expires in June, but I've already told the president I would like to stay to start a new season and contribute to the construction of the future squad.

"We're going to talk about it when we've secured safety. We've done well so far. I arrived in a difficult moment. I've fallen in love with the Premier League and the atmosphere here."

Swansea have won two of their last five league matches.
