David Vaughan has said that Martin O'Neill's appointment as the new boss of Sunderland has changed the mentality of the team.
O'Neill's first game in charge resulted in a 2-1 win over Blackburn, in which Vaughan scored his first goal for the Black Cats.
"It felt different out there," Vaughan said.
"The new manager has come in and given us some belief again. He wants us to go out and express ourselves and try to enjoy football.
"The first impressions have been good."
Sunderland are currently 16th in the Premier League with 14 points from 15 games.
