Stoke City manager Tony Pulis wants more signings

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis reveals he is hoping to bring in up to five new players before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has revealed that he is hoping to bring in up to five new players before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

The Potters boss was speaking after his side's 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Sunday.

"I am hoping to bring in three, four or maybe even five players if all goes according to plan, while a couple who have not played regular first team football of late may be leaving, but as ever, I won't say anything until the deals are done," he said.

"We're trying desperately hard to convince players to come to Stoke City Football Club and the money has been made available to get the deals done.

"It's important however that if we do spend it, we spend it carefully and bring in the kind of players who can help us continue to make progress."

West Brom manager Roy Hodgson had earlier questioned the validity of Stoke's winner, accusing scorer Ryan Shotton of challenging for the ball unfairly, but Pulis was philosophical about the decision.

"If the goal was a contentious one, then that's one decision which has gone our way.

"My instinctive reaction was that it was a goal. I thought Foster and Tamas were going for the ball, but Ryan just nipped in ahead of them."

Stoke's next Premier League is at home to Liverpool on Saturday, September 10.
