Paul Lambert believes that new Stoke City signing Badou Ndiaye will prove to be "one hell of a player" following his impressive debut against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Paul Lambert has claimed that Badou Ndiaye will go one to become "one hell of a player" for Stoke City.

The Senegal international, who joined on deadline day from Galatasaray for £15m, was named in the starting XI for the Potters' 2-1 loss at Bournemouth.

Ndiaye impressed on his first outing for his new club, assisting Xherdan Shaqiri for the opening goal after just five minutes played.

The 27-year-old also shot wide after linking up well with Peter Crouch and later fired an overhead kick past the post before being taken off on 70 minutes.

"He was brilliant and his effort was excellent," Lambert told Sky Sports News.

"He only trained on Friday and even then it was just a walk through so he probably doesn't know the lads' names still.

"If he keeps that level of performance then he's going to be a hell of a player."

Ndiaye is the first player to register an assist on his Stoke Premier League debut since Shaqiri in August 2015.
