Stirling Albion sweep aside Annan Athletic

Stirling Albion score three times in the first 30 minutes to take a stranglehold on their Scottish League One playoff with Annan Athletic.

Stirling Albion took a massive step towards reaching the playoff final for Scottish League One after an impressive first-leg display, which blew Annan Athletic away at Forthbank Stadium.

Albion, who had scored eight goals in the final two league games coming into this tie, were quickly into their stride and led inside 12 minutes through Graham Weir.

On 26 minutes, David Weatherston added a second when he beat Kenneth Arthur as Stirling look set to extend their good recent run to eight games unbeaten.

The visitors had all but put the result beyond doubt when Weatherston again netted as Annan struggled to a get a foothold in the game.

Athletic did pull a goal back in the second half through David Hopkirk after 69 minutes, but Albion were able to hold on for a victory that moves them closer to the final.
