Alan Pardew backs Crystal Palace's stance on Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew says that he backs the decision of chairman Steve Parish to keep Wilfried Zaha at Selhurst Park.

Manager Alan Pardew has said that keeping Wilfried Zaha at Selhurst Park is the "right thing" for Crystal Palace.

On Thursday, reports emerged that Zaha had asked to leave the Eagles after being the subject of a £15m bid from Tottenham Hotspur, but Palace chairman Steve Parish was quick to turn down an offer from the North London outfit.

Pardew has admitted that a chat had taken place with Zaha regarding a potential exit from the club but he has backed his chairman's decision to retain the services of the winger.

The 55-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "He was our player of the year and is a fans' favourite.

"Wilf came and saw me, he believed there was interest from Tottenham. I don't even know what the bid is. The chairman has made his position clear and I stand by that. That's the right thing for us."

Zaha has started both of Palace's games in the Premier League this season.
