Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness reveals that his club only paid £82m to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has revealed that his club only paid €95m (£82m) to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old made the move to Allianz Arena in August, ending his long association with Tottenham.

Kane has made an excellent start to life with the Munich giants, scoring nine goals and registering five assists in 10 appearances in all competitions.

The England captain has scored eight goals and registered four assists in seven Bundesliga appearances, in addition to one goal and one assist in two Champions League outings.

There have been contrasting numbers when it comes to the amount of money that Bayern paid to sign Kane, with some reports claiming that the deal cost the Bundesliga champions in the region of €116m (£100m).

However, according to Hoeness, Bayern only paid €95m (£82m) to sign the Three Lions international.

"We only spent €95m (£82m) to sign Kane," Hoeness told BR24.

Manchester United are believed to have identified the striker as their leading target ahead of the summer transfer window, but Spurs were seemingly not prepared to sell him to a domestic rival.

Real Madrid are also thought to have considered moving for Kane following the departure of Karim Benzema, but Los Blancos ultimately decided against submitting an offer for him.

Kane scored 278 goals and registered 64 assists in 430 appearances for Tottenham before deciding to leave the London club in search of trophies late in his career.

Bayern are already in a strong position to reach the knockout round of the Champions League, sitting top of Group A with six points from an available six.

The Munich outfit are third in the Bundesliga table, meanwhile, collecting 17 points from seven matches, posting five wins and two draws.

Tottenham have thrived in Kane's absence, sitting top of the Premier League table on 20 points, ahead of second-placed Arsenal on goals scored.

Kane is currently with the England squad preparing for their upcoming internationals against Australia and Italy on October 13 and October 17 respectively.
