The father of Toby Alderweireld has suggested that the Tottenham Hotspur defender could sign for Royal Antwerp in 2023.
The Belgium international has not represented a team in his homeland during his professional career, instead beginning his playing days at Ajax.
However, ahead of his current club squaring off against Antwerp in the Europa League on Thursday evening, Viv Alderweireld has hinted that playing in the city of his birth is a possibility in the future.
Speaking to Gazet van Antwerpen, Alderweireld said: "The house will be ready in the course of 2023, in line with his contract with Tottenham.
"We'll see where Toby will play football, at Tottenham, Ajax, an Antwerp club or elsewhere. But the chance that he will play closer to home at the age of 34 is real."
With Eric Dier having not travelled with the Spurs squad, Alderweireld could start Thursday's game at the Bosuilstadion.
