Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have mutually agreed to release Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Togolese striker was told that he had no future with the club on Friday and the two sides have now reached an agreement to end his contract.
The 31-year-old had turned down a loan move to Aston Villa in the summer but Adebayor had insisted that he wanted his deal cancelled to facilitate a permanent transfer away.
The club released a short statement on their website, which stated: "We wish Emmanuel well for the future."
Adebayor made 97 appearances in four years for Spurs, scoring 42 goals in all competitions.
