Mauricio Pochettino: 'Still more to come from Harry Kane'

Mauricio Pochettino insists that Harry Kane can still improve his all-round game, describing the Tottenham Hotspur striker's instincts in front of goal as "killer".

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that there is still plenty more to come from Harry Kane, but has played down comparisons to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The England international netted a hat-trick in the 3-0 Champions League win over APOEL on Tuesday night to take his tally for the month to nine goals in five games.

Many have backed Kane to go on and become the Premier League's highest all-time scorer, while Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle claimed that the striker is on course to become the club's greatest player.

Clarifying his own comments from earlier this week, when suggesting that the 24-year-old could soon be considered a better player than Ronaldo, Pochettino told reporters: "I never said he is better than Cristiano and Lionel Messi, who are at a different level. They are the best and are showing that for the last five to 10 years.

"We cannot put so much pressure on Harry because he is so young. Messi and Cristiano are a different style of player to Harry. Harry is a striker, a killer; they are killers too but play in different positions and have different styles. It will not help Harry if we start comparing him to these players.

"But who better to assess Harry [than Hoddle]? I agree with Glenn. He is one of the best strikers in the world and because he's still so young, he can improve. His potential, his professionalism; he has a gap to improve a lot."

Kane, with seven hat-tricks to his name in 2017, has top-scored in the Premier League in each of the last two seasons.
