Harry Kane to partner Wayne Rooney in attack on full England debut

Roy Hodgson confirms that Harry Kane will make his full international debut for England in Tuesday's friendly against Italy.

England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Harry Kane will make his full international debut in tomorrow night's friendly against Italy in Turin.

The in-form Tottenham Hotspur striker made his senior debut from the bench in Friday night's 4-0 victory over Lithuania, scoring within 80 seconds of coming on to seal the win at Wembley.

Italy boss Antonio Conte has named his starting XI, but Hodgson wasn't willing to share his. He did, however, confirm that Kane would partner national captain Wayne Rooney in attack.

"I think it will be nice to see the two of them on the field together," Hodgson told a press conference at the Juventus Stadium. "They have played together a lot in training, but the other night they didn't because Harry took Wayne's place.

"So I am pleased to see them playing together from the start in this game. Harry certainly deserves his chance."

Hodgson is without several players for the match in Turin because of injuries and believes that it offers some fringe players the chance to shine.

"It's a great opportunity for players who maybe haven't had the opportunity in some of the qualifiers to show that they really deserve their place in the squad and that they're good enough to take the place of other players I've been selecting before them," he added.

Kane is the joint-top scorer in the Premier League with Diego Costa, but didn't net his first until November, amassing 19 goals in 21 games since then.
