Mauricio Pochettino: 'Moussa Sissoko hamstring injury is minor'

Mauricio Pochettino provides an update on Tottenham Hotspur's sidelined players including Moussa Sissoko, insisting that the midfielder's hamstring issue is "minor".

Mauricio Pochettino has provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur's sidelined players including Moussa Sissoko.

The midfielder limped off after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday's penalty shootout defeat to Barcelona in the International Champions Cup.

Victor Wanyama, meanwhile, has flown home with a knee problem, while youngsters Tashan Oakley-Booth and Kazaiah Sterling, as well as Argentina midfielder Erik Lamela, are also carrying knocks.

"Yes, I think it's minor," Pochettino told Spurs TV when asked about Sissoko's knock. "Maybe he was a little bit tired, but I think it's not a big issue. We will wait until tomorrow or the next few days to see what happened.

"Erik's was, after the game against Roma, a minor muscle injury, that's why he's here with us and we hope he can play against AC Milan [on Tuesday].

"Victor has gone back with Tashan to London to see the doctor. I think it was the same problem as last season in his knee. We will assess him in the next few days and see what happens."

Tottenham get their Premier League season underway against Newcastle United on Saturday, August 11.
