Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele doubts for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino reveals that he is considering resting midfield pair Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele against Middlesbrough.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he is considering resting Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele during Saturday's Premier League match against Middlesbrough.

Both players suffered hamstring injuries during last weekend's 1-0 victory over Sunderland and subsequently sat out Wednesday's EFL Cup drubbing of Gillingham.

Pochettino must now decide whether to "risk" them this weekend, or rest them further ahead of big matches against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier League.

"It is a little bit more than cramp. It was a very small issue. They are running, working, nearly at the same level as the other players," he told reporters.

"Now I need to decide whether to take a risk or to wait for the Champions League in Moscow or against Manchester City."

Spurs, who currently sit third in the Premier League table, are one of only three remaining unbeaten sides in the top flight.
