How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Ajax

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Ajax.

Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to become just the second side in 18 attempts to progress through after losing at home in the first leg of a Champions League semi-final, as they travel to Ajax 1-0 behind from the opening 90 minutes.

The Lilywhites were second best at their new stadium last week and must now cancel out Donny van de Beek's away goal in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening.

Spurs' form has dropped off massively in recent weeks as they have lost five of their last six games, four of those by a 1-0 scoreline.

Ahead of their huge match with Ajax in midweek, Sports Mole looks at how Mauricio Pochettino could set out his side.

Son missed the first leg through suspension and was also sent off in the 1-0 loss at Bournemouth on Saturday, but he is available for selection for Wednesday's match in the Netherlands.

That is a massive bonus for Pochettino as the South Korean forward has scored 50% of Tottenham's goals in this season's Champions League knockout stages (four out of eight).

Son is almost certain to replace Fernando Llorente up top in the prolonged absence of Kane, but there is a decision to be made over who joins him in attack, with Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura all vying for selection.

That will likely depend on what formation Pochettino goes with in Amsterdam. Vertonghen was forced off in the first half of the first leg with a head injury and played no part against Bournemouth at the weekend.

The defender has showed no further ill effects and is expected to be back in contention, however, giving his manager the opportunity to use five at the back again.

Moussa Sissoko is now fully fit after getting some minutes under his belt, meanwhile, but Winks and Aurier are still out and Lamela is unlikely to return to the squad.
