Harry Kane delighted to salvage FA Cup replay for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is pleased to have made a contribution off the bench having kept his side in the FA Cup with a late penalty against Leicester.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has said that he is happy to have kept his side in the FA Cup having come off the bench to score a late equaliser against Leicester City this afternoon.

The England international hammered home a controversial penalty with just one minute of normal time remaining to salvage a 2-2 draw against the Foxes at White Hart Lane, setting up a third-round replay later this month.

The 22-year-old admitted that he would have preferred to start the game, but acknowledged that the most important thing was that they are still in the competition.

"It was very important. We definitely didn't want to go out of this competition in the third round and we're still in there," he told BBC Sport.

"We're playing again on Wednesday in the Premier League and then obviously we'll have to play away from home in a couple of games. You want to be playing all the time, especially when you're watching it from the bench.

"But it's down to the manager who plays, and when the subs come on, so I'm just happy I was able to make a contribution when I came on and we're still in the Cup."

Kane, who has been valued as high as £90m by former England striker Alan Shearer, has now scored 50 goals for Spurs in 104 appearances.
