Virgil van Dijk to be Ronald Koeman's first signing?

Ronald Koeman will reportedly look to make Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk his first signing when he is named Southampton manager next week.

Ronald Koeman has reportedly lined up Virgil van Dijk as his first signing as Southampton manager.

The former Ajax and Feyenoord boss is expected to be named as Mauricio Pochettino's successor at St Mary's during the next week.

According to The Mirror, the Dutchman has been promised a sizeable transfer budget, and is keen to bring the £8m-rated Celtic defender to the club.

Van Dijk joined the Scottish champions from FC Groningen last summer, and scored five goals during 45 appearances last season.
