Southampton to move for Virgil van Dijk following Celtic's Champions League exit?

Southampton are reportedly ready to move for Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk following his side's Champions League exit.

Southampton are reportedly preparing a bid for Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk after the Scottish side were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Following Celtic's 2-0 defeat to Malmo in the second leg of their playoff tie, Van Dijk admitted that he could leave before the transfer deadline next week.

According to The Express, Southampton, who were linked with the Dutchman last summer, are ready to pounce as manager Ronald Koeman is eager to boost his defensive options.

Van Dijk, who joined Celtic from Groningen in 2013, has won two Scottish Premiership titles and the Scottish League Cup with the club.
