Report: Southampton want Valencia's Dani Parejo

A report claims that Southampton want to sign Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo in the January transfer window.

Southampton are reportedly lining up a January swoop for Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo.

Parejo remained at the Mestalla in the summer despite being strongly linked with a move, but it is understood that the Spaniard will depart at the start of next month.

A number of clubs have been credited with an interest, but according to the Daily Star, it is Southampton that lead the race and the Saints will submit a £16.7m offer when the winter window opens for business.

Parejo, who has three goals and five assists in 15 La Liga appearances for Valencia this season, has a contract at the Mestalla until the summer of 2020.

Europa League winners Sevilla are also said to be monitoring developments at the Mestalla.
