Southampton are reportedly hopeful of beating Sunderland to the signing of goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.
The Premier League duo, along with Italian giants Lazio, are said to be interested in the Argentine keeper.
Ustari spent three months at the Stadium of Light this season on a short-term contract, but he was restricted to just three FA Cup appearances.
Following the release of Keiren Westwood from the club, Gus Poyet would like to re-sign the 27-year-old to offer cover for Vito Mannone, according to The Northern Echo.
However, the report suggests that Ustari does not want to join a club where his first-team chances remain limited, and Southampton are hopeful that the lure of more regular action will persuade him to move to St Mary's.
