Robbie Keane insists that he is looking for the Republic of Ireland to go the distance at Euro 2012.

Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane has said that he is looking to go the distance at the 2012 European Championships.

Keane, who insists that he and his teammates aren't at the tournament to make up the numbers, hopes that his side are able to match what surprise winners Greece achieved at the same event in Portugal in 2004.

"I hope so," he said. "I hope that's the case.

"Listen, we are not coming to this competition to make the numbers up. We are here to do as well as we can and go as far as we can.

"We go into each game in each competition believing that we can win it."

Keane and company begin Euro 2012 against Croatia on Sunday.
