Reims are safe from relegation in Ligue 1 after a slender win against Lorient.

Grzegorz Krychowiak scored the only goal of the game as Reims confirmed their survival in Ligue 1 with a 1-0 win over Lorient.

The hosts had the first chance of the match in the fifth minute, when Gaetan Courtet's header forced a fine stop from Fabien Audard.

Nicolas de Preville then went close for Reims, but his effort was kept out by Audard once more.

Courtet was presented with another opportunity midway through the first half by Franck Signorino, but Audard was again their to keep Lorient level.

Reims finally found the breakthrough when they were awarded a penalty after Lamine Gassama brought down Diego in the box, resulting in Krychowiak dispatching the spot kick.

Courtet had another chance nine minutes into the second half, but his header fell just wide of the far post.

With 14 minutes left to play, Fabien Robert came close to an equaliser but he put his close-range shot just wide of the left post.
