Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has reportedly identified Dayot Upamecano as a potential long-term replacement for talismanic captain Sergio Ramos.
Upamecano has emerged as one of the most coveted defenders in world football this season, with the 21-year-old starring to help RB Leipzig to the Champions League semi-finals.
The France Under-21 international recently signed a new contract to keep him at Leipzig until 2023, but that has not stopped speculation from swirling over his future.
Spanish outlet AS reports that Real Madrid have added their name to the list of interested parties and believe that Upamecano could become a key part of their defence as Ramos seemingly comes towards the end of his career.
However, Los Blancos are not planning a move this summer due to the financial implications of coronavirus, which puts his £41m release clause out of their reach.
The Spanish champions are likely to face stiff competition for his signature, though, with a host of other top clubs around Europe also thought to be interested in Upamecano.
