Franz Beckenbauer believes that Sami Khedira would be the perfect signing for his former club Bayern Munich.
The German international has become renowned as one of the best holding midfielders in world football since joining Real Madrid from Stuttgart in the summer of 2010.
Despite acknowledging the quality in the Bayern squad, Beckenbauer is adamant that Khedira would provide the commitment that is lacking from certain members of the team.
"He is the player that Bayern need," the 66-year-old told TZ. "He is a class player, as he demonstrated for Germany at Euro 2012. In Madrid he has matured into a true leader. There are very few players with his characteristics today.
"Bayern have quality players, but sometimes they only give 70 or 80% on the pitch and that's not enough.
"The fans want to see people giving 100%. Khedira is one of these guys that have a lot of character. He is someone that Bayern need so much, but you don't get players like Khedira easily."
Khedira, 25, has made 82 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos.
