David Beckham backs James Rodriguez signing

Former Real Madrid star David Beckham tips new signing James Rodriguez to make his mark for the club following his £60m move from Monaco.

David Beckham has hailed Real Madrid's signing of Colombia international James Rodriguez.

The South American playmaker joined Los Blancos for around £60m earlier this week, and Beckham thinks that Rodriguez will prove his worth at Santiago Bernabeu.

Beckham told reporters: "[Real Madrid] will always have players who are different and James is a great player - he had a great World Cup and scored the goal of the tournament.

"The club's brought in some very special players and that has strengthened the team. I know how important the Champions League is to Real Madrid and I'm happy for Carlo Ancelotti, the president, the lads and the fans."

Beckham played for Real Madrid from 2003 to 2007.
