A defeat for Reading or Queens Park Rangers this afternoon will relegate them to the Championship.

The loser of this afternoon's Premier League encounter between Reading and Queens Park Rangers will be relegated to the Championship.

Both sides will start the fixture on 24 points - 10 points behind Aston Villa, who occupy 17th spot.

As a result, today's victors will preserve their status as a top-flight club for another week at least, while the other will know that Championship football next season is guaranteed.

The duo will survive if the match at the Madejski Stadium ends in a draw, but both would then be relegated if Villa avoid defeat in their home game against Sunderland tomorrow night.
