PSV Eindhoven have moved four points clear of Ajax at the top of the Eredivisie with a narrow win at mid-table Vitesse.
Midfielder Adam Maher scored the only goal of the game in the 10th minute, beating Eloy Room between the home sticks with a left-footed drive.
Maher, who has scored six times this season, found himself in the referee's notebook along with teammate Jetro Willems, as did Wallace and Rochdi Achenteh of Vitesse in what was an otherwise uneventful second period.
The result leaves Vitesse down in 10th position, but they have played one game more than several of the teams around them.
