Preston North End have signed Paddy McCarthy on a three-month loan deal from Crystal Palace.
The 32-year-old defender was a part of Simon Grayson's squad that lost 3-1 to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.
"It was a position we have been looking at, as we felt we were a bit vulnerable in the centre of defence in terms of numbers, highlighted by the suspension of Bailey Wright and injury to Paul Huntington," Grayson told the club's official website before the game.
"It was a needs-must situation, but Paddy was a player we have looked at for a number of weeks and months.
"He has great experience, is a leader, knows the game inside out and we feel his experience will help us with his knowledge of the game."
The centre-back has made over 100 appearances for Palace, while going out on loan to Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers during his time with the London club.
