Steve McClaren's Nottingham Forest have started their season at home with a draw against Keith Hill's Barnsley side.
The away team created a couple of chances early on, primarily thanks to the pace of strikers Danny Haynes and Craig Davies, but failed to capitalise.
Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan fired the best chance of the game well over the crossbar in the first half. He later almost broke the deadlock after the interval but sent his shot wide of the goal.
Forest next face local rivals Notts County at the City Ground on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup.
