Nottingham Forest condemn Cardiff City to defeat

Goals from Andy Reid, Daniel Ayala and Billy Sharp earn Nottingham Forest an eye-catching victory against Championship leaders Cardiff City.

Nottingham Forest condemned table-topping Cardiff City to defeat at the City Ground by three goals to one this afternoon.

Andy Reid opened the scoring with a free kick before Daniel Ayala doubled their advantage just two minutes later.

Billy Sharp effectively put the result beyond doubt with his first goal in seven appearances early in the second half.

Malkay Mackay's side tried to respond and earned a late consolation through Heidar Helguson, who stayed strong to slot home under pressure from close range.

Adele Guedioura was sent off in the closing stages for a second bookable offence, his second red card in as many matches.

Cardiff could not take advantage of the extra man in the final minutes and slipped to defeat.
