Norwich City secured a point in their Premier League clash against Stoke City as the match ended 1-1 at Carrow Road.

Mame Biram Diouf put the Potters ahead in the 11th minute when he headed Xherdan Shaqiri's cross past John Ruddy, but the home side responded through Russell Martin.

The Canaries pushed for a winner in the second half, but were denied by several excellent saves from Jack Butland as Stoke survived to earn a share of the spoils.

Norwich

Goal

John Ruddy: Didn't have a great deal to do over the course of the afternoon, but could do nothing to prevent Diouf's opener. (6/10)

Defence

Steven Whittaker: Not quite as strong a performance as his display against Sunderland last week. Struggled to get forward to support Redmond down the right as he was aware of the threat of Arnautovic. Booked late in the match. (6/10)

Russell Martin: Notched his second goal of the season with a well-taken goal fired between the legs of Butland. Was a threat in the Stoke box all afternoon due to his aerial ability, but did struggle at times with the threat of Diouf. (7/10)

Sebastien Bassong: Quiet game as he battled against Diouf all afternoon, winning his fair share of battles, although he was booked in the second half. (6/10)

Robbie Brady: Has had a really strong start to his Norwich career as he continued where he left off against Sunderland. Provided threatening crosses from the left all afternoon and was at the heart of everyone of his side's attacks. (8/10)

Midfield

Nathan Redmond: Was active in and around the box and was one of several players to be denied by Butland. He always tried to make something happen in the final third, but the consistency wasn't quite there this afternoon. (7/10)

Graham Dorrans: Like Redmond he was busy for the Canaries and had two efforts well saved by Butland. On another day he could have been the match-winner. Was also tidy in possession. (7/10)

Alex Tettey: Lost Diouf for the Stoke goal as he made the decision to turn his back to the forward, which proved to be costly. Didn't have a major effect on the game in the middle of the park. (5/10)

Wes Hoolahan: Was accurate with his passing throughout the match, but spurned an excellent opportunity early in the second half when he headed wide. Could do with adding goals to his game, but was always involved for the Canaries. (7/10)

Jonny Howson: Made a few excellent passes through the course of the game, one of which should have been converted by Jerome. A good outing from the former Leeds United man. (7/10)

Attack

Cameron Jerome: Lead the line well, but his major problem is finishing as he had several good chances to notch a goal for his side over the course of the afternoon, but failed to take any of his opportunities. (5/10)

Substitutes

Bradley Johnson: Solid in his time on the pitch, although he didn't provide much of an impact from the bench. (6/10)

Gary O'Neil: On late to replace Howson, but didn't have time to make a lasting impression. (6/10)

Stoke

Goal

Jack Butland: Produced an outstanding display between the sticks to keep the Canaries at the bay in the second half. Made different types of stops, which highlighted his athleticism and quick reactions. Commanded his area well. (9/10)

Defence

Glen Johnson: Struggled to stop the supply from Norwich's left flank as Brady and Howson gave the Potters a host of trouble, but wasn't always supported by Shaqiri. (6/10)

Geoff Cameron: Was troubled by Norwich's movement in the final third and didn't always read crosses well from the left. (5/10)

Marc Muniesa: Decent outing from the Spaniard as he dealt with crosses better than his defensive partner, but was turned around a couple of times by Jerome, but was saved by Butland and the forward's poor finishing. (6/10)

Erik Pieters: Didn't have the trouble Johnson did down the right and seemed to cope with the threat of Redmond and Whittaker well. Was booked in the second half. (7/10)

Midfield

Marco van Ginkel: Not the best outing from the Duthchman as he struggled to cope with the threat of Dorrans and Redmond through the middle, allowing the duo too much space on the edge of the box. (5/10)

Glenn Whelan: Had a few nice touches in the middle, but was overmatched in the middle of the park as he and Van Ginkel lost control of the game. (6/10)

Ibrahim Afellay: Made some good runs in the first half to provide his side with an attacking outlet, but appeared to tire in the second half when he was replaced by Ireland. (6/10)

Marko Arnautovic: The winger had a couple of decent moments in the first half, but didn't do his defensive duties tracking back. (5/10)

Xherdan Shaqiri: Decent performance on debut from the Switzerland international. Provided an excellent ball into the box for Diouf's goal and almost found the net in the second half with a powerful effort of his own, but looked jaded in the final stages of the match. (7/10)

Attack

Mame Biram Diouf: Lead the line well for the Potters, using his strength to win several free kicks in the final third to take the pressure off his teammates. Took his goal extremely well as he stooped low to meet Shaiqiri's cross to divert the ball past Ruddy. (7/10)

Substitutes

Stephen Ireland: Carved out one good chance for Diouf with a lofted pass into the box, but the forward opted not to shoot when inside the penalty area. Made a decent impact after arriving in the 57th minute. (6/10)

Joselu: Was quiet in his first 30 minutes on the pitch, but then had a chance to win the game for the Potters when the ball fell to him inside the six-yard box, only to blast his effort over the bar. (6/10)

Charlie Adam: Came on in the 79th minute and had one chance to put a free kick into the box, but he tried to be too clever a thread a pass through the ball which Norwich snuffed out with ease. (6/10)
