Northern Ireland's Michael O'Neill: 'Game could not have gone much better'

Michael O'Neill says that Northern Ireland's 3-0 drubbing of Belarus "couldn't have gone any better".

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has claimed that his side's friendly with Belarus "couldn't have gone any better".

The team stretched their unbeaten run to 11 consecutive games with a 3-0 thumping over Belarus at Windsor Park this evening.

O'Neill will trim his squad to 23 members tomorrow ahead of next month's European Championships in France.

"The game couldn't have gone any better for us really," BBC Sport quotes O'Neill as saying. "We were able to play about with things a bit. Playing 3-5-2 is an option now.

"I will announce my squad tomorrow. Will Grigg has been very patient, he's sat on a lot of benches for us. I have told my players earlier this week who is going. The five lads who aren't coming will be disappointed but they all have a career ahead of them."

The team's opening group game will be against Poland on June 12.
