Africa Cup of Nations preview: Nigeria

Sports Mole previews two-time winners Nigeria ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria will be desperate to make an impact at this year's Africa Cup of Nations having failed to reach the last edition of the tournament.

The Super Eagles edged out Rwanda in the qualifiers this time around before they emphatically thumped Liberia 8-3 on aggregate to seal their progress into the finals.

With coach Stephen Keshi in charge they have a man who won the competition as a player the last time that Nigeria triumphed in 1994.

Only six members of the squad play club football in their home country, with the other 17 players plying their trade across Europe.

Group: C

Players to watch out for:

Joseph Yobo

Nigeria's most-capped player has been on the international scene for 12 years and is a veteran when it comes to the AFCON. His no-nonsense style of defending will be familiar to Everton fans following a six-year spell at Goodison Park.

Victor Moses

Moses has been something of a talisman for Chelsea this season, popping up with goals when the team most needs them. His skill out on the wings will come in handy for Nigeria, but it's his knack of being in the right place at the right time in the box that could make a real difference.

Previous best: Winners 1980, 1994

Odds to win outright: 9/1

Sports Mole says: Quarter-finals
