Newcastle United have reportedly identified Lille defender Sven Botman and Benfica forward Darwin Nunez as summer transfer targets.
The Magpies brought in five fresh faces for the cost of £93m during January in a bid to boost their chances of avoiding relegation to the Premier League.
While survival in the top flight is far from a foregone conclusion, plans are already in place should they extend their stay in the division.
According to The Mirror, Botman and Nunez feature highly on the club's shortlist, the former having been denied the chance of a switch to St James' Park at the turn of the year.
In total, signing the pair will likely cost Newcastle in excess of £70m, although any outlay will be partially offset by the departures of many squad members.
Both players have contracts at their respective clubs until the end of the 2024-25 campaign, leaving Lille and Benfica in strong positions.
