Newcastle United will face tough opposition if they are to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in January, as the Turkish side have revealed that they have fielded enquiries from 10 clubs for the player.
The Magpies have been tracking Tosun for 12 months but are not the only Premier League club to have kept tabs on the forward, after Crystal Palace failed in a move to sign the 26-year-old.
Newcastle sent a senior scouting delegation to watch Tosun in action during the international break, during which he netted both of his side's goals in a 2-2 draw with Finland.
"He just keeps getting better, the more he scores the more confident he gets," Besiktas official Metin Albayrak told reporters.
"He just keeps working and trying to improve. Right now, ten clubs are in direct talks with us."
Besiktas have placed an €18m (£16m) price tag on Tosun, who has scored five goals in 11 games for both club and country this season.
