Papiss Cisse nears a move to Newcastle United as the Magpies agree a fee with his German club Freiburg, according to reports.

Newcastle United have moved a step closer to signing Papiss Cisse by agreeing a fee with his German club Freiburg, according to Sky Sports News.

Reports earlier this afternoon claimed that the two clubs were locked in discussions regarding a price for the Senegal international.

Both parties are now said to have reached an agreement, believed to be in the region of £10m.

Newcastle are hoping to conclude the deal within the next 24 hours as Cisse is due to travel to the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.

The 26-year-old has scored nine goals so far this season.
