A report claims that Middlesbrough are keen to replace striker Britt Assombalonga with Sam Vokes, who may be on his way out of Burnley this summer.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis is weighing up an offer for Burnley striker Sam Vokes, according to a report.

The Championship outfit are said to be willing to offload Britt Assombalonga in the hope of financing a move for Vokes, who scored and assisted a combined five goals in 32 outings for the Clarets last season.

Burnley are also looking to shuffle their pack ahead of a campaign that could see them compete in the Europa League proper, potentially leaving the door open for the Wales international to move on.

Vokes is not short of offers, with The Northern Echo reporting that Boro are one of a number of clubs keen to sign him if he accepts that his days at Turf Moor are numbered.

Pulis has yet to sign a striker since replacing Garry Monk in December, having been left with Assombalonga, Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford from the previous regime.
