Middlesbrough defender Rhys Williams could sign a new long-term deal at the club, according to his agent Gary Williams.

Williams, 23, is considered to be one of the best talents outside the Premier League, but he has just 18 months left on his current deal.

Middlesbrough are keen to tie him down to a new contract, however, with a host of sides understood to be circling the Australian.

"Talks are ongoing between ourselves and the club," Gary Williams told Sky Sports News.

Williams joined Middlesbrough in 2008.
